the port of MalinskaMalinska is situated a few kilometers from the bridge of Krk, immediately after Njivice, in a natural inlet on the western part of the island, overlooking the open sea. Malinska is the only place on the island of Krk not possessing a real urban center. The region where Malinska is located was rich in forests of oak so that in the past was a source of trade and wood was exported together with oil and products of local agriculture.

The town of Malinska until the nineteenth century was a small and poor village.

With the arrival of a steam ferry began the growth of the town. This was the first ferry to transport tourists on the island.The line started in 1866, from Trieste, passed to Rijeka and arrived to Malinska. One could say that in those years started the development of the tourism sector and experience of the habitans in it.

Today the tourist offer is rich, the cuisine is varied and of a good quality, there are Pubs, hotels and apartments for tourists.

Useful informations and advices:

  1. you can go biking or walking along the road of Paradise from Malinska that goes to Njivice;
  2. take a walk to Porat to visit the Franciscan monastery where they kept an ethnographic collection, a real millstone for the oil press and a Glagolitic lapidary;
  3. the beaches are with bowles with natural coves between the rocks with the shade;

Curiosity:

The resort of Malinska and its beach were chosen for the largest investment in tourism of the island. There will come the first polyvalent structure of the island of Krk, the Blue Wave Resort will provide 362 beds with 82 rooms and 15 apartments for two people.
