Malinska
Malinska is situated a few kilometers from the bridge of Krk, immediately after Njivice, in a natural inlet on the western part of the island, overlooking the open sea. Malinska is the only place on the island of Krk not possessing a real urban center. The region where Malinska is located was rich in forests of oak so that in the past was a source of trade and wood was exported together with oil and products of local agriculture.
The town of Malinska until the nineteenth century was a small and poor village.
With the arrival of a steam ferry began the growth of the town. This was the first ferry to transport tourists on the island. The line started in 1866, from Trieste, passed to Rijeka and arrived to Malinska. One could say that in those years started the development of the tourism sector and experience of the habitans in it.
Porat
Porat is a town in the region of Dubašnica, the same which Malinska belongs, where you can easily reach on foot or by bicycle. This is a small fishing village grew around the monastery.
Even here we can find traces of the family Frankopan in fact the building that currently host the convent and the museum in the past belonged to them.
Inside the monastery there is a consecrated church of Saint Maria Maddalena.
How to reach island of Krk
To reach the island by car as a starting point I take Trieste, which of course I recommend that you visit.
You must go toward the University of Engineering and from there continue towards the "boundary", cross the former customs Pese (Italy / Slovenia), Krvavi Potok and shortly after the bridge turn right onto Kozina, there you are on the E61.
I tell you now that Vignette or Slovenian MotorwayStamp you DO NOT need, don't look for alternative routes or sites that you want to show "the way" , it'just not needed.
Road Safety
In the Republic of Croatia, from 20 August 2004, is implemented a new law on road safety. We take this opportunity to introduce you to some of its criminal provisions.

Can I take my dog on a holiday with me?
Sure you can! I recived several inquiries about the possibility of hosting your small dog (German shepherd of 50 kg) in apartments or a hotel. And each year are more frequent. Say that there are no problems, there are many landlords like you who love dogs and guests them happy. I would advise you to describe your beloved and his habits. Even hotels are adapting and you will not have lots of problems.
Can I access to the beach with my dog?
In some beaches is expressly prohibited, for example Baška, in Punat, Krk and Šilo and you are invited to observe them. In other beaches, the more "liberal" is not present signs and then you could come to terms with the eyes with those who do not share your same passion.
The town of Krk, and behind him the others, alerted the growing need for regulation has thought of an entire beach dedicated to our pets. It is true a beach just for them (even the owner can access ..... just a joke). Located in the town of Krk, near the beach Dražica, are accessed easily through the passing lane to the left of Koralj, watching the sea.
But beware, beaches for dogs is not to say "faeces free" excuse the expression but I have visited some beaches (or minefield) and were indecent.
The tourist guide of the island of Krk
It all started, fortunately or because of my desire to deepen my knowledge of the island of Krk. I was wondering and asking if anyone knew or have something to give me to read, useful information for me and for our visitors ... and I always found the same brochure coming by for Tourism Agency or even worse from some travel agencies.
I seemed too with all the brochure a "travel agent" until one day the distant 2004, the family Lisac from Krk "gave me the first book of the series edited by AQUANET," The Island of Krk, Krk and Help Images. " Inside of me I said to myself this is the usual "tourist guide" ... but in the short time I changed my idea.
The Bridge of Krk
The Bridge of Krk was opened in 1980 and work on it started in July of 1976 but the design dates back to 1960 and if we consider the ideas in the years that have followed we have to go back at least until 1918 when city of Rijeka was under Italy.
After several projects came in a concrete, bridge from the mainland is supported at small island of San Marco, continue and reach the island of Krk. The bridge is 1430 meters long and the arc is wider along 390 meters. In addition to maintaining the bridge might be closed because of wind gusts, in 1987 there was a flurry of bora of 220 kilometers per hour.
The Krk Bridge was a great success, not only the design and construction but also for the benefits it has brought to the community that resides on the island. It is estimated that the ferry, used before the bridge was constructed, carrying up to 400,000 vehicles each year while the bridge about 1 million a year. By then the tourism made that the numbers of passing vehicles have increased exponentially. By then the tourism made that the numbers of passing vehicles have increased exponentially.
Kornić
Kornić is a quiet small town which in last years growed visibly. Unfortunatly part of the church and essential services the town does not have its own square and tourist walk. If you like to explore and walk there are numerous streets to look at, a small museum, the tourist office, the supermarket, the bar and the post office. The name of Kornić probably comes from the Latin word "cornu" taht means horn or the word "cornix" or crow, birds that can be seen today in the area of Kornić.
Kornić is at the center of the island of Krk in a position that tanks to the roads built in recent years describe as a strategic post. It allows you to pass the time in peace in one of the villas with views of the bay and reach other near destinations quickly. It is about six kilometers from the town of Krk, three km from Punat, five hundred meters from the sea and ten kilometers from Baška.
Punat and its Marine
Punat is 35 km from The Bridge of Krk, inside the bay called Puntarska draga. To reach it you just have to "touch" the town of Krk, which is about 9 kilometers, you pass in front of the Ski Lift, you salutes the village of Kornić, turn right and here it is.
Marina Punat and its yard is the first thing you see after you arrive in the bay of Punat, and then continuing you'll see the first houses e and finally the center of a town. The shipyard Punat was founded in 1922 by Nicola Zoric, funded by William R. Neshes through contracts for the construction of vessels in 1964 is officially open the marina. Marina Punat today is considered the largest marine of the Adriatic sea where are held every year the sailing competitions.
Baška, the most popular beach
Baška is the most popular town of the island of Krk, the maybe you will understand why once you visited it, I see it almost every week.
Baška is located at the southeast of the island of Krk and faced to the open sea. The water temperature is lower than of the rest of the beaches on the island. Clear and clean water will not be easy to forget. Of course also depends on the wind currents of the weather conditions of the sea but you can only feel satisfied. The rest of the island's beaches are equally beautiful but it seems that Baška has something special for all of them who has visited it.
