In the Republic of Croatia, from 20 August 2004, is implemented a new law on road safety. We take this opportunity to introduce you to some of its criminal provisions.
Alcohol
The law on road safety in Croatia has a "zero tolerance" in the case of consumption of alcohol. Driving motorists should have no more than 0.00 ‰ of alcohol or illegal drugs in the blood.
penalties
- up to 0.5 ‰ from 500 to 1500 kn
- from 0.51 by 1 ‰, 5 ‰ less than 2000 kn
- from 1.51 ‰ less than 3000 kn, temporary withdrawal of driving licenses and a ban on driving.
Speed
Excessive speed is the most frequent cause of road accidents on roads in Croatia. The motorist, in a town, driving at a speed exceeding 100 km / h, can be punished by up to 3000 kn, and the withdrawal of driving license for three months to 1 year and five points on the license.
Seat belts
All passengers on board of passenger cars equipped with safety belts are required to use them. The fine is 500 kn.
Protective helmets
Drivers of motorcycles and mopeds as well as their passengers, while driving are required to wear helmets for protection. financial penalty: 700kn
Even cyclists under the age of 16 years are required to wear a helmet.

Lights
During daytime driving, cars are required to turn on the lights or the beam position.

Cell Phones
The driver of a motor vehicle can not while driving, use the phone. It may be used only with the aid of a device "hands free", that allows that you use the phone without the use of hands.

Parking
Motorists can not stop or park his/her car in such a way to put in danger the safety of others involved in road traffic or to disturb the traffic or its movement.
