The tourist guide of the island of Krk

The tourist guide of the island of KrkIt all started, fortunately or because of my desire to deepen my knowledge of the island of Krk. I was wondering and asking if anyone knew or have something to give me to read, useful information for me and for our visitors ... and I always found the same brochure coming by for Tourism Agency or even worse from some travel agencies.

I seemed too with all the brochure a "travel agent" until one day the distant 2004, the family Lisac from Krk "gave me the first book of the series edited by AQUANET," The Island of Krk, Krk and Help Images. " Inside of me I said to myself this is the usual "tourist guide" ... but in the short time I changed my idea.

The author is Denis Lešić and have collaborated on: Cedomir Miler, Martina Podnevi, Dražen Lesica and translations Einwalter Ingrid Damiani.

The book is in 14x20 format, contains over 550 photos and illustrations for a total of 250 pages. The book goes beyond what normally is offered by a tourist guide, give the reader who wants to find cultural and historical information using simple language , discursive, whic h makes reading enjoyable, free of frills often used by those who do not know what to say. It gives you immediately informations and the possibility of a quick orientation.

The book is full of content that accompany the reader, tourist, visitors from the bridge of Krk at the opposite side of the island. One has the impression of walking trough the streets in the company of Denis, smiles at his jokes and learns from his profound knowledge of the island.

Denis presents the peculiarity of the tourist offer of the island and adds interesting history facts to it. Some pages are devoted to illustrations of flora and fauna and the richness of the earth and its potential and also to the local products. Finally, the author leads us to the offers of food and wine of the island and some information that are useful to all travelers.

Even those who have already visited the island or know for years ends to take the guide from time to time to the hands and read it again. And so it is for me too. In 2008, after a few years I had a guide I have finally read the acknowledgments page, a list of names and the reason that led the author to thank them.

The tourist guide of KrkAmong the last pages of the book I see the name of Zdenko Kirinčić. "But I know him ..." Zdenko is a one of our support members, I read it again to be sure, I ask a confirm to my wife and I contact him.

In the short time I find myself to Kornić, home of the parents-in-law, sitting with Zdenko and Cedomir Miler. Cedomir collaborated on the book but is also the editor and important person not only for the island of Krk .... and in that moment I did not know.

We talked about our initiative, books and maps that were made and we immediately found in harmony so that he gave to our association a several copies of the book.

The tourist guideIng. Cedomir Miler is a director of the CORO Center for Development of islands in the northern Adriatic.

After the great success achieved by the book "The Island of Krk, guides and pictures," Denis Lešić has also written a book dedicated to the city of Krk and one of the island of Kosljun .... and for me in a short time we will write about fourth one. The books are in sale everywhere on the island, you will not find difficulties to find them.

At the next meeting with Čedomir I'll ask him to tell us about of their initiatives for the development of islands in the north Adriatic and in particular those relating to the island of Krk.

One last thing, Cedomir showed me a letter addressed to Denis Lešić written by a lady who with her husband moved on island after having bought a "stable". She was happy being finally able to show "her" island to the friends with a beautiful text with the "not boring" content translated into German.

Unfortunately for me, probably it was the last "stable" for the years I am looking for a one ...
